The Team

Dr Simon Rudland

Simon is an experienced and committed GP who has practiced at Stowhealth for nearly 20 years. He set up his practice at Gilmour Piper when he returned to Suffolk from Australia realising he wanted to have an opportunity to practice more holistically. He enjoys integrating his experience as a senior GP, with his interests in Nutrition, Gut Function and Wellness. He trained as an Endoscopist and worked at Ipswich Hospital for six years in order to better understand the impact of stomach and bowel function on health.

Simon sees a wide range of patients from sports participants wanting to improve performance, through to patients with fatigue symptoms and individuals with complex problems who simply want to spend more time with an experienced doctor to complement what their NHS doctors are doing. Simon carries out Employment and HGV medicals alongside specialist Diving medicals. Simon works alongside his colleague Louise Askins supporting several prominent local businesses in their Health Assessment and Employee Services.

Simon is an honorary senior lecturer at UEA and an appraiser of GP colleagues in Suffolk. He is a Non-Executive Director of The Suffolk GP Federation. He is a member of the East of England Clinical Senate Council.

Simon grew up in Suffolk and trained at Nottingham University before joining the Royal Navy, developing interests in Underwater Medicine and Anaesthesia. His Naval career took him to Northern Iraq during the first Gulf War where he cared for Royal Marines, Kurdish refugees and Iraqi soldiers. Simon continued his GP training in Devon, then on to Fremantle in Western Australia before returning to his roots in Suffolk.
